Asante Kotoko Keep Title Dreams Alive

Asante Kotoko Keep Title Dreams Alive

Dreams Fc was left to ponder on what could have been after a number of missed chances as they fell to a 2-0 away defeat to Asante Kotoko at Baba Yara Sports Stadium. As a result of the victory, the porcupine warriors extend their unbeaten home run to six Ghana Premier League matches.

Kotoko’s victory has left Dreams dropping to 10th on the league table. Aiming to close the gap, the visitors put their opponents under early pressure as Ali Huzaif finds his way behind their defence only for his shots to go wide from goal.

The visitors did not relent in their search for the opener. Mensah had the room to get a shot at goal forcing Ibrahim Danlad into a splendid save in the late minutes of the first half.

After Dreams missing the chance to lead an away league game before the break, Asante Asante Kotoko upped their game during the restart and explored Dreams defensive weakness which in the end saw them worsening their defensive woes this season.

Frank Etouga Mbella converted a 71st minute penalty to give the home team the lead after he was fouled in the box by goalkeeper Augustine Koomson in an attempt to protect his goal post.

Moments after converting the penalty, Mbella wasted no time in doubling their lead with his first effort hitting the goal post but being at the right place at the right time to put the rebound at the back of the net.

Match ended with Asante Kotoko maintaining their points difference at the top of the league as second placed Bechem United failed to drop points this week.
