Ghana Premier League Match Day 27 Preview: WAFA SC vs Asante Kotoko

A one nil loss to Medeama last time out extends WAFA’s woes as relegation from Ghana’s top flight league looms. Starting the week second bottom of the GPL, WAFA finds themselves dilemma of getting a win as a loss to Asante Kotoko would mean they will have to win 3 consecutive games, a feat which they are yet to achieve this season to avoid the danger of being relegated.

Pointing out where it had all gone wrong for WAFA is very easy, a combination of GPL’s worst attack (18 goals) and a porous defense that has conceded 2 goals per match on average across their last 6 games.

There is a very slim chance of salvation with WAFA being winless against Kotoko in their past 5 games despite being a regular force that makes them to drop points (4D 1L).

Knowing the GPL title has not been entirely secured, Asante Kotoko have every incentive to rebound strongly after their two consecutive defeats against RTU and Legon Cities. If manager Prosper Ogum is to be able to secure the much desired trophy for Asante Kotoko, he’ll demand a better defensive performance from his side to avoid a repeat of their recent misfortunes.

But as the Porcupine Warriors have only won once in their last 5 games against WAFA, they would only be naive if they are to believe that a visit to WAFA would be a walk in the park and with Bechem United’s firm faith that the Chase is not over, it is incumbent on Kotoko to secure a win.

Players to watch: WAFA’s ball playing center back Konadu Yiadom with the most MVPs in the league this season would have to defend against Kotoko and GPL’s leading scorer Frank Etouga Mbella
