In a closely contested opening match of the second round of the Ghana Premier League, with both sides looking to kick off with a great start, the visitors strived hard to come out on top in the end despite WAFA’s great home record.

Despite the fact that the hosts were much dangerous in attack in the beginning of the game, the visitors defended well earning a stalemate draw in the first half of the game.

With King Faisal hoping to complete a league double over their opponents WAFA, after an entertaining 1 nil victory earlier in the season, the Insha Allah boys were ahead in the in the 49th minute just 4 minutes after the break. Mawuli Wayo connected very well with Osman Ibrahim whose first shot was saved by the Goalkeeper Boliver Owusu but managed to get the rebound at the back of the net.

It was in the 65th minute that Konadu Yiadom found an equaliser for the home team putting them back into the game and in contention for their 5th win at home as the game was back to level and anyone’s game.

Both coaches introduced a double substitution in the closing quarter-hour of the game in an attempt to find a decisive late winner. In the end it was King Faisal who struck late with Mawuli Wayo on the scoresheet in the 88th minute of the game.

The final whistle was blown after added time and this saw WAFA hand over King Faisal their 2nd Away win of the season as the Insha Allah boys continued in their pursuit for a top four finish.

WAFA Sc would look to go back to the drawing board to rediscover their feet in this second round in order to escape relegation while King Faisal would look to continue with the momentum this win would give them for a great finish to the season.
